ABSTRACT
We describe a five-year-old female with Down syndrome and patent ductus arteriosus. During percutaneous closure using an Amplatzer device, embolization to the right pulmonary artery occurred. Successful surgical rescue was achieved via sternotomy, including device extraction, pulmonary artery plasty, and ductal ligation without cardiopulmonary bypass. The postoperative course was uneventful. Immediate surgical management is safe and effective for device migration, a serious complication of transcatheter closure.
